Course objectives

The lecture introduce how to create 3D models from physical objects based on the mainstream 3D software, particularly 3DS Max. Several skillful concepts are delivered for designing and modifying 3D models. By utilizing texture processing and allocating lighting environment, realistic rendering is carried out. All these data are further suitable for reproduction by using 3D printing tools. We also offer the training of reverse engineering. This course aim to provide practical training and to have the ability of 3D design in relevant fields.

  • 1. To facilitate the production of 3D data
  • 2. To learn the skill of processing 3D data
  • 3. To have the ability to duplicate 3D objects

Outline of lectures
  • 1. 3D Digital model fundamental
  • 2. Modifying 3D meshes
  • 3. Free-form surface design
  • 4. Introduction to reverse engineering
  • 5. Measurement and duplicating 3D physical object
  • 6. Background removal and texture processing
  • 7. Realistic rendering
